The Alpine A110 has been revealed as the ‘Coupe of the Year’ at the Auto Express’ New Car Awards ceremony. The prominent weekly car magazine and website presented the trophy during its annual prize-giving event held at London’s glamorous Hilton Bankside.
Auto Express thoroughly tests over 1,000 vehicles each year, so to be selected for any award is hard won, particularly in the closely fought Coupe category. However, Auto Express’ testers were impressed by the Alpine’s unique blend of talents.
Speaking after the ceremony, Steve Fowler, Auto Express’ Editor-in-chief, said: “It’s tough to top the coupé class, but our winner has cracked it with a new car from a newly-revived brand. The Alpine A110 caught our attention with its retro-inspired looks, but the real magic became apparent when we got behind the wheel. For the money, there’s nothing else quite like the Alpine A110. It’s more exotic than some supercars costing twice the price, but it’s also more fun more of the time than nearly any other car on the road.”
After receiving the award, Regis Fricotté, Commercial Director, Alpine Cars, commented: “This award means a lot to both myself and all those that work at Alpine. To have had such success with the A110 gives me and the team great pride. We continue to be bowled over by the enthusiasm and excitement the car generates among the UK press and our customers.’’
The Alpine A110 is available in Pure and Legende trims, as well as a recently announced range-topping A110S, which features 292PS and a more focussed suspension set-up. The Alpine range starts at £46,910. For more information visit www.alpinecars.com
